Data Center

Build source-backed dataset packages by geography or from saved indicators.

Data Center builds research-grade dataset packages from provider-backed series. Use Download Data → By Geography to start from geography and available series, or use Saved Indicators when the package should come from Watchlist or Dashboard items.

By Geography workflow

The current workflow has four routed steps:

  1. Select Geography — choose Global, Continental, National, or Regional entries.
  2. Select Series — choose topics, an observation period, and series that are available for the selected geography.
  3. Series Tray — review selected variables and their year ranges before requesting output.
  4. Output — preview the table or download a CSV ZIP or XLSX package.

The canonical route begins at /datacenter/download/by-geography/geography. Legacy /by-country routes redirect into this geography workflow.

Saved Indicators workflow

/datacenter/saved is the simpler path for indicators already stored in Watchlist or placed on a Dashboard. Marco can explain this workflow without seeing private saved items. Describing a user's actual saved items requires authorized, user-scoped source context.

Package contents

CSV ZIP and XLSX outputs preserve customer-facing metadata such as labels, value labels, flags, citations, references, source details, and source notes when those fields are available. Preview and download remain constrained to source-backed observations and the selected geography, period, and series.

Availability and limits

A catalog row being visible does not guarantee it is downloadable. Output requires available source observations, usable geography keys, source terms, and preserved source metadata. When a series is unavailable, use the first visible requirement in the workflow to identify what is missing; do not infer that an unavailable series can be forced into a package.
